Activities

At Sneeuberg, days are spent exploring the 14 500 hectare Nature reserve and returning for a hearty lunch on the patio, followed by a lazy siesta, lying flat with a pile of reading matter or cooling off in one of the swimming pools.

Evenings are spent around a fire, enjoying Karoo fare that you have either prepared by yourself in the fully equipped kitchens or prepared by the Sneeuberg kitchen.

During Winter, the temperatures during the day are perfect for outdoor activities and the evenings are spent indulging in the romance of the chilly Karoo nights. 200 kilometers of mountain trails have been created for 4 x 4 driving, mountain biking and hiking  - all with the most incredible vistas of the mountains and vast plains of the Great Karoo. The river walk traverses stone plateaus along the river bordering the Reserve.

Swimming

To cool off from the Karoo heat,  there are various options: dipping into refreshing rivers, cool open dam water or sparkling swimming pools.
There's an indoor pool available in the renovated sheep barn for our guests only. Please make sure to book in advance.

Mountain Biking

Explore the Sneeuberg mountains by bike. The farm has a variety of scenic tracks: mountain, riverine and long flat scenic tracks making each ride different and exciting. Guests can also ride to Nieu Bethesda for lunch which is about 35 km away.

Hiking

Due to the fact that Sneeuberg does not have predators, the 14500 hectares of land can be enjoyed and explored by foot. Walk through the grazing Nguni herds or observe the antelope on foot, stop along the way for a picnic lunch and cool off in one of the rivers.  For the fit and energetic hikers, the Compassberg trail is open to Sneeuberg guests. It is an 8-hour hike, located on an adjacent farm with a climb of roughly 1700m to 2505m.
