Activities
At Sneeuberg, days are spent exploring the 14 500 hectare Nature reserve and returning for a hearty lunch on the patio, followed by a lazy siesta, lying flat with a pile of reading matter or cooling off in one of the swimming pools.
Evenings are spent around a fire, enjoying Karoo fare that you have either prepared by yourself in the fully equipped kitchens or prepared by the Sneeuberg kitchen.
During Winter, the temperatures during the day are perfect for outdoor activities and the evenings are spent indulging in the romance of the chilly Karoo nights. 200 kilometers of mountain trails have been created for 4 x 4 driving, mountain biking and hiking - all with the most incredible vistas of the mountains and vast plains of the Great Karoo. The river walk traverses stone plateaus along the river bordering the Reserve.
Swimming
To cool off from the Karoo heat, there are various options: dipping into refreshing rivers, cool open dam water or sparkling swimming pools.
There's an indoor pool available in the renovated sheep barn for our guests only. Please make sure to book in advance.
Mountain Biking
Explore the Sneeuberg mountains by bike. The farm has a variety of scenic tracks: mountain, riverine and long flat scenic tracks making each ride different and exciting. Guests can also ride to Nieu Bethesda for lunch which is about 35 km away.
4x4 driving
Take yourself on game drives or adventure up one of the many mountain tracks. 200 km's of mountain trails have been created, catering for those dare devils in need of some adrenaline or those wishing to enjoy a scenic route.
Hiking
Due to the fact that Sneeuberg does not have predators, the 14500 hectares of land can be enjoyed and explored by foot. Walk through the grazing Nguni herds or observe the antelope on foot, stop along the way for a picnic lunch and cool off in one of the rivers. For the fit and energetic hikers, the Compassberg trail is open to Sneeuberg guests. It is an 8-hour hike, located on an adjacent farm with a climb of roughly 1700m to 2505m.
Picnic and Sundowners
Mountain tops, riverine, Karoo plains or poplar forests, Sneeuberg has no shortage of breath-taking locations, perfect for sundowners or a picnic.
These spots have been marked on the map and picnic and sundowner snacks can be ordered from the Gordonville kitchen.

Stay at Poplars
We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at the Poplars. There were 7 of us - plenty of space, lots of places to sit quietly or with the group, an interesting and rambling old house, a big kitchen, and great walks. Definitely to be visited again.

Baie spesiaal
Read this review

Peace found at this beautiful establishment
Our three nights went too fast. Never have we experienced such tranquility and peacefulness. Yet with the comfort of knowing our hostess, a couple of kilometres away, will be in touch every day to see if all is fine. Many thanks for maintaining this beautiful building to allow people, looking to escape from the city, a place where they can rest.

Cozy Karoo Cottage
An unforgettable experience at the Karoo cottage. We were fortunate to see many different buck species and wildebeest while traveling along the gravel road to the cottage. The friendly staff and special touches made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed our morning breakfast on the stoep while looking out on the reserve. The unit is quite spacious and fully equipped, catering for all your needs. The avid Braai master... Read this review

Kliphuis is a 'stunner'
Despite the rural location in the Sneeuberg range, the booking, planning and coordination was seamless and we felt warmly welcome, even before our arrival. Kliphuis is a 'stunner' and the 4 couples in our family group were comfortable, with the equipment adequate for our planned family feast. All our requests were met to our satisfaction. Our night photography of the milky way over the Karoo landscape a winner!

Lovely Karoo Getaway
We had a wonderful 5 night get away at the Gordonville Cottage. Just what we needed after months of lockdown. Accommodation was very good. Best prepared picnic basket ever. Staff very helpful. Did some walks on the reserve and spotted some game and birds.

Unforgettable visit to the Sneeuberg Nature Reserve
We had a splendid time at Sneeuberg Reserve. On our arrival, we were spoiled with a delicious platter, freshly baked bread, and wine. We enjoyed it on the stoep while looking at the amazing view. Everything we needed was available in the house like firewood, matches, etc. The rooms were cozy with warm linen and electric blankets. We have done some star gazing at night. We enjoyed every moment... Read this review

Memorable hideaway in the Karoo!
Visited Kliphuis with colleagues. We enjoyed the wide-open expanses of veld all around of us - felt one with nature! So, so quiet - once cannot help but relax! Visited in August - hence the fires in the house kept us cosy and warm. The kitchen is well stocked and we were able to cook up a storm. The decor of the house lends itself perfectly to the "architecture"... Read this review

Our Stay At Sneeuberg
We had the most lovely 2 nights staying in the Karoo Cottage. It was clean, and beautiful and lovely. We really enjoyed the HUGE indoor fireplace in the kitchen and spent hours playing cards in front of the fire, when we weren't out wandering on the farm.

We had a great time alternating between relaxing in the luxurious Karoo house and exploring the endless, well looked after mountain biking trials across the vast mountainous landscapes. A great place to train at high altitude. Highly recommended.

Karoo silence meets supreme luxury! We loved Sneeuberg. It was great to know that the staff was just a WhatsApp away. Thanks for all the delicious food and fresh bread in the morning, Amanda and Gladice! And thanks for looking after us, Ann and Scott!

An amazing place to get away from it all. The houses are kilometres away from one another, so you really feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere. You can even order dinner, picnic lunches and fresh farm bread from the staff and they’ll bring it to your house. Wonderful experience in the Great Karoo.

I hope you don’t mind quiet because there’s buckets of it here. Once the car’s engine had stopped, the silence came, so overwhelming it made your ears ring.
